"Kites" may release next year

The buzz has been growing about the Bollywood film, “Kites,” and anticipation continues to rise for its upcoming release. Well we have some unfortunate news for you: it looks like the Roshan’s are thinking about delaying the release of the film from December of this year to January of next! So what’s stopping them from letting the film hit the theaters this year? Well sources tell us that they want to release the film on January 15th, 2010 to mark the 10th anniversary of Hrithik Roshan’s start in Bollywood.

On January 14, 2000 we all fell in love with the actor in his debut film, “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai.” Hrithik played a double role where he portrayed two characters. Rohit, an orphan who falls in love with Soniya; played by the actress, Amisha Patel. Rohit is killed in the film and that’s when the second character, Raj Chopra who Hrithik also played is brought into the movie. This film showcased Hrithik’s talent as an actor and also got the whole world talking about his great looks, charm and hot dance moves. It was the start of something big for the now very successful actor.

With all the pride Hrithik has brought the Roshan family with his success it makes sense for his father, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan, to want to celebrate his son’s 10th year in the industry on a grand scale. However is holding off the release of Kites the right answer? After all, the movie has been one of the most talked about releases coming out of B-town this year. Will the change of date affect moviegoers desire to see the film? If they wait until January, perhaps fans will be excited to go out and celebrate Hrithik’s career by seeing his newest project. Well, hopefully the filmakers are taking that into account before they make their decision. Rakesh Roshan told the Bombay Times, "I will take a decision by September 10 on whether it's coming in December this year or next January." With all of this buzz surrounding the movie already, it seems like Roshan knows what he’s doing!
