Kangana Ranaut looked stunning as she walked the ramp for Narenda Kumar and looked stunning in a black and white dress and also she modelled in a suit. Adhyayan Suman did not attend, although Shekhar Suman came and was also very happy with the show.

Kangana Ranaut meets Haji Mastan's wife

Before playing the alluring star Sona who Haji Mastan wins over in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Kangana Ranaut has made up her mind to meet the smuggler’s love interest on whose life the film is based. Says an excited Kangana, “You could call it either the love interest or interesting love. But the don and the actress shared such an amazing relationship. He made her laugh all the time and she liked that. He gave her all the attention and love she craved for.”

So fascinated was Kangana with the character that she decided to track down Sona. Sona lives quietly, away from the public eye, in Mumbai. Sona was one of the many starlets in Bollywood in 1970s. Haji was so besotted by her that he asked his filmmaker friends to cast her in their films. He produced a few films for her and friend Raj Khosla even made Kachche Dhaage (1973) with Sona in a pivotal role, but her career never really took off.

Finally, after a lot of hunting, Kangana has tracked down Sona, and is all set to meet her. “Yes, I am going to meet Sona soon. That’s going to be a crucial part of my preparation to play the character,” she says.

Apparently, Haji was in love with Sona because she resembled his favorite actress Madhubala. Interestingly this isn’t the first time that Kangana would be playing such a character. In Anurag Basu’s Gangster, she played Abu Salem’s moll. But Kangana was unable to meet Monica Bedi then, on whom Kangana’s character was modeled. This would be Kangana’s third biographical character, after Monica and later, Parveen Babi in Woh Lamhe.

Kangana is looking pretty relaxed, but know that this is just a rehearsal and the real thing will be seen in Kites and it will be hot. Hrithik has already Kangana a great dancer!!

Gorgeous Kangana Ranaut performed at the RED FM Bajate Raho Awards 2008 which was a big event where television celebrities graced and also Mahi Gill and item girl Sambhavna Sen performed. Kangana did the finale performance where she looked awesome.
The entire awards will be telecasted on April 5th.

"My challenge is to look as beautiful as Madhubala"

Kangna is getting ready for the biggest challenge of her career. She'll be playing whom she considers the most beautiful woman in the history of Indian cinema.
It's a thought that flatters and terrifies her. Kangna is afraid she may not look beautiful enough on screen.
"I've never thought of myself as beautiful. In fact I've always suffered from the lowest self-esteem. Till recently, I'd look at my pictures and cringe. I still have the pictures from my first portfolio I got done in Chandigarh. They remind me of how ugly I can look. And to now play Madhubala in Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. How will I do it?"

Kangna is so petrified at the prospect that she has stopped looking into the mirror completely. She laughs when people tell her playing the traumatized mistress of the underworld don would be a cakewalk for her. "I'm proud of my so-called territory as an actress. If playing traumatized women is my territory then I'm glad. Because I know I'm good at it."

The challenge in Once Upon A Time... is the physicality. "Madhubala's role is not as tragic as my other roles. It's basically a very tender romance between this really funny don (played by Ajay Devgan) and this female superstar who can't understand his personality. How will I manage to play the most beautiful woman that Indian cinema has ever seen? My characters have always had a dark and light side. And this one is no exception. But the challenge for me is to look almost ethereally beautiful, like Madhubala. How will I manage that?"
Kangna intends to undergo a complete transformation of look and appearance. She has already started watching DVDs of Madhubala's films very carefully. "I won't copy her. But I want to get into her mind and heart space."

Puri Jagganath next project starts rolling

In the next coming days, Prabhas and Puri Jagganath will begin on Puri's forthcoming next project which starts shooting in March 31st. Jagannath will present the movie produced by Aditya Ram, Chairman of Aditya Group of Companies, on Aditya Movies banner.
Relating to the film, director Puri Jagannath said “this is a commercial action entertainer we are bringing in combination with Prabhas. Equipped with a powerful script supported by a variety of emotions the film will be stylish. We have planned to complete it by the end of July. I am going to present it on Aditya Ram’s banner.”

It is not known yet whether Kangana will be also joining the crew on March 31st, but recently, she saw Prabhas dancing in the promo of his next movie "Billa" and she has admitted that he is a great dancer and fears dancing opposite him. Also Kangana's role is said to be really hot.

Kangana's birthday!!

Kangna Ranaut turned a year older and boyfriend Adhyayan Suman kept her company all through the party that she threw for her friends and Adhyayan Suman with Kangna Ranaut well-wishers on Monday night. And guess what, Kangna didn’t go for any elaborate designer gown to don on this day, inspite the presence of designer friend Rick Roy. Instead, she was dressed down in casual shorts and a purple shirt. Adhyayan too was seen in casuals, unlike his own birthday bash where the couple were completely dressed up!

Kangna seems to be quite a ‘director-favourite’ as directors like Madhur Bhandarkar, Anurag Basu, Mohit Suri and Kunal Deshmukh all dropped in to wish her. Rikku Rakesh Nath came along with wife Reema and son Karan Nath. Kangna’s ex co-stars Mugdha Godse and Arjan Bajwa hung out together. Sunaina Roshan was seen on the social circuit after a hiatus.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KANGANA

Kangana Ranaut, one of the most interesting of the current crop of Bollywood actresses, has a well-earned birthday break today. After recent stunning performances in movies such as Gangster, Who Lamhe, Life In A Metro, Fashion and Raaz – The Mystery Continues, she has reached the giddy heights of stardom at the still relatively young age of twenty-two.

She hopes, however, that she is still at the start of her career and plans to focus on it until she is at least thirty which is good news for all her fans – even though it may mean putting marriage on the back burner for the time being. “There are so many other things to do that are far more important in my life, so many places to see, dreams to fulfill,” she says, “I want to get married when I want to have babies.”

Kangana also has ambitions to develop careers in other areas. She has signed up for a fashion course in London and would also like to try her hand at directing. “I want to go to the US to study filmmaking and then direct a film. It has been my dream and now I want to fulfill it,” she explains, “After I complete my pending acting assignments I intend to go abroad.”

Kangana’s fans have much to look forward to. We’ll soon be seeing her doing the salsa in her role as Gina in the Hrithik Roshan-Barbara Mori movie Kites. She’s also been cast as Madhubala in the much-anticipated Once Upon A Time in Mumbai opposite Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi and Prachi Desai. Then there’s the delayed Roshan with Bobby Deol which is now scheduled to be released in April and the rumoured Tollywood movie opposite Prabhas which could be ready by August.

Kangana wants to be a director

She may be known for her trademark curly locks, but Kangna Ranaut has no qualms shaving them off if the right role presented itself. But the
Kangna Ranuat actress denies that she’s getting paid Rs 1 crore to go bald for a Tamil film.

“Yes, I am working on a Tamil film, but I haven’t been asked to shave my head for it. But I’d give my left arm to be able to play such a character. Going bald is no big deal for me and if I’m required to do so, I won’t hesitate to do it,” says Kangna.

Rick Roy, who has styled Kangna in the past and will be doing two more projects with her, says, “Kangna believes in putting every effort to get the character she’s playing right even if it requires her to shave off her hair. She is not very particular about her curly hair and likes experimenting with it,” says Rick, who believes that the actress will be able to carry the bald look off gracefully.

At 22, I feel 40

Kangana Ranaut, who turns 22 on March 23, has her plans in place not just for the day, but for the next eight years. The actress has chalked out her list and certainly knows her priorities. For instance, on the top of her list is her older sister Rangoli’s marriage.

It may be recalled that a few years ago there were reports of Rangoli singed by acid by an unidentified person because of a broken marital alliance. However, Rangoli is now leading a normal life. If all goes well she will be married by next year. Apparently, a new marital alliance is being worked out for Rangoli. Says Kangana, “Rangoli is the older among the two of us so it’s only natural that she gets married first. As for me, I can’t even think of marriage until I get my sister’s life in order.”

When asked about her marriage plans, she says not till she turns 30. “There are so many other things to do that are far more important in my life, so many places to see, dreams to fulfill. I want to get married when I want to have babies,” says Kangana.

She dreams of direction. “I want to go to the US to study filmmaking and then direct a film. It has been my dream and now I want to fulfill it. After I complete my pending acting assignments I intend to go abroad.”

Kangana also has an alternative plan in place. She wants to assist her favourite director Anuarag Basu. “According to me, Anurag looks like Satyajit Ray so I can pretend I’m learning from the best,” laughs Kangana and insists a course in filmmaking is a must as soon as her sister is settled.

About other problems in her personal life she says, “All I can say is I’ve truly moved on. Meditation has mellowed me and made me a mature person. At 22, I feel I am 40. I’ve forgiven but not forgotten.”

Rangoli is the older among the two of us so it’s only natural that she gets married first – Kangana Ranaut.

"Roshan": almost ready to release

After Heroes which was released in October last year, director Samir Karnik is working on Roshan with Bobby Deol and Kangana Ranaut. The film is about the emotional drama of a doctor and his girlfriend. We spoke to Samir Karnik about the film.“Roshan is in its post-production stage and this film is an emotional drama. It is based on the fact that when hope is there everything you can achieve. It's love story of Bobby Deol and Kangana Ranaut and in this film Bobby plays a doctor's character.

The character has achieved everything in life but one incident truly changed his life. As of now I can just say this much because the film is still in the post-production stage and final releasing date will be out in a few week,” he said.Further about working experience with Bobby Deol and Kangana Ranuat, the director said, “this is the third time that I’m working with Bobby Deol. He is a fantastic human being and he has now became my favourite actor. I enjoy with him while Kangana is also a fantastic and talented actress.”The film is tentatively releasing in April. Eros International who is the producer of the film will decide the actual release date of the film as the film is still in the post-production stage.

Whoever said that Kangana Ranaut has two left feet when it comes to dancing can go bite the dust. The actress in fact surprised one and all by showcasing her flexibility in Kites. “I have taught Kangana Latin American dancing in Kites and she was unlike her description! She does not have two left feet at all. Kangana is extremely dedicated, observant and was always open to doing splits which needs great flexibility. Unlike other stars she’d not go to her Caravan until she got her step right! Initially she was pressurized to match up to Hrithik but with her enthusiasm and persistence she overcame all her fears”, revealed Salsa instructor Sandip Soparkar who has trained and choreographed Kangana in Kites. Well, Kangana can dance saala!

Hrithik’s papa Rakesh is taking no chances of late, especially when it comes to the projection of his son’s dancing.

After Hrithik’s choreographer friend Flexy Stu was unable to impress the Roshans, Salsa expert Sandip Soparrkar has been roped in to choreograph a song in Anurag Basu’s Kites.

“Rakesh Roshan was highly impressed by Sandip and wanted his expertise in Salsa to benefit Hrithik and Kangana. In fact Sandip has already choreographed the song which has Kangana and Hrithik jiving and doing the Salsa. Sandip finished the song without wasting any time as he had to leave for Sri Lanka, since he is to judge Mr. Sri Lanka contest soon,” revealed a unit hand of Kites.

Hrithik... we loved you in a biscuit commercial doing the jiving and now we are eager to see you groove in a full Spanish number!

Roshan: Kangana's next

But now that the film is shelved, Kangana decided to invest her time in preparing herself to be a fashion designer. But acting doesn’t take a backseat for the lovely actress. Post her course, Kangana will start shooting for her forthcoming films as it’s her primary passion in life. It can be recalled that recently Abhay Deol has shifted to New York for a welding and metal work course. Seems the young Bollywood brigade believes in the ‘Jack of all, master of some’ adage.

Kangana set to play Madhubala

Kangana Ranaut is set to step into the shoes of the yesteryear actress and beautiful diva Madhubala for a movie role.
Director Milan Luthria ’s next film has many characters plucked from real life. Titled Once Upon A Time In Mumbai , the movie tells the story of underworld gangster Haji Mastan in the 1960s. Ajay Devgan will play Mastan while Kangana Ranaut has been roped in to play an actress Mastan was romantically interested in.
Madhubala was the actress Mastan was rumoured to have had a soft spot for. Reportedly, Luthria considered roping in Katrina Kaif or Priyanka Chopra for the role, but it eventually went to Kangana, who, coincidentally, played a gangster’s love interest in her debut movie Gangster .

‘Once Upon A Time’ will also have Kangana’s ‘Gangster’ co-star Emraan Hashmi playing the young Dawood Ibrahim who eventually takes over the leadership of the underworld from Mastan.

The movie will be produced by Ekta Kapoor. Shooting is expected to begin from April this year.
