Kangana Ranaut after National Awards

Kangna Ranaut’s movie journey is only three years old. But with a National Award already in her kitty, it looks like a promising ride ahead

Did you ever expect to get a National Award so early in your career?
I have got an award every year ever since I made my debut. But, yes the National Award was a surprise and an honour. I will always cherish it.

Is there any person to whom you would like to dedicate your award?
It would definitely be the makers of my first film, Gangster, because were it not for that film I would not have been here. Giving a break to a small-town girl with no background of films or experience was a big risk, and I am grateful to them for that.

For the first time you will be seen shaking a leg in two films, No Problem and Tanu Weds Manu. Did you enjoy matching steps with your choreographers?
In No Problem I actually danced in a saree to this very peppy Punjabi number composed by Pritam. It was more of wriggling hips like Shakira than matching steps, but thanks to choreographer Chinni Prakash I managed quite well. In Tanu Weds Manu Saroj Khan made me do the typical Bollywood jhatkas and matkas. It was fun. It will also be the first time that I will be seen in an all-Indian look in a film wherein I wear mostly kurtis and mojris.

Both No Problem and Tanu are comedies. What do you have to say to your new avatar, that of a romantic comedienne?
I know I started off with doing dark, intense roles that received critical acclaim. But an actor has to move on. I had a great time doing the light-hearted films. It brought out a side that even I did not know I had! Thanks to director Anees Bazmee and Aanand Rai.

Are you enjoying playing a cop in Crooked?
It was destined that I do the film. I had declined the film earlier because of date problems but because of a change in schedule in the shoot it came back to me. I have just started shooting for it…. Yes, it looks as if I am going to enjoy being on the other side of the law.

At what stage of production is your film Actor with Amitabh Bachchan?
I believe that the makers are trying to sort out Amitabh Bachchan’s dates. Once that is done, we start shooting.

Is it true that you have no scenes with Sanjay Dutt in Sohail Maklai’s Knockout?
Yes that’s true. Knockout is a political drama and Sanjay plays a man who takes on the political system from within. I may not have any scenes with him but at I am happy being part of a very intense film.

Your character in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai also sounds interesting.
A lot of thinking went into creating this character of an actress, who is a don’s girlfriend. She is very glamorous and influenced by Western fashion. So I wanted to create a look which is western, but suits someone Indian. It is an intriguing mix of Audrey Hepburn’s, Sophia Loren’s, Asha Parekh’s and Sadhana’s styles. There are a lot of high-waist narrow trousers and scarves. It’s a ‘70s look without being comical.

Is there any style you would like to bring back from the 70s?
Skirts! The kinds worn then were very feminine, practical and elegant. I would like to see more girls wearing them.

Are you anxious that you are not seen in the publicity of Kites?
I have a guest appearance in the film, and it is up to the producers how they want to project me. There is nothing to be anxious about.

Kangana: I am done with dating

There was buzz that director Kunal Deshmukh and Kangna Ranaut are an item. If that’s true, then Dino Morea must have rocked their love boat! The pictures of her and Dino, in what looked like a passionate kiss was harmless according to the actress. “I know Dino for a while now. We’ve met socially and even had a few laughs but to make it seem like there is something more is terrible,” says the curly-haired temptress. Ranaut also adds, “I’m done with relationships.

I have 10 movies to complete this year, and will perhaps take on another dozen next year. What I’m trying to say is that I’m completely swamped by work. I have no desire to get into another relationship. I’m done with those.”

The actress says the next time she dates a man, it will have to lead to a walk up the altar. “Marriage is what it will be,” says Ranaut, adding, “I may marry three years

down the line or perhaps even five years down the line. But I’m certainly not interested in the dating scene.”

Kangana Ranaut gets 5 crore for a film

Actress Kangana Ranaut has apparently understood her true worth and with her current fee demand for signing a film she has put herself among the top actresses of the industry, who get what they want.

‘Ask and ye shall receive’ - Kangana asked for whooping Rs 5 crore for signing a film and the producers weren’t hesitant to fulfill her demand at all. The film is a love story and stars former Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan. There are talks that the movie has scope for three actresses. Hunt is on for the other two.

As a source tells a daily, “Kangna has come a long way from the days of her debut film Gangster. Directors realize her potential and have no qualms in giving her the fee she deserves.”

The movie is produced by TV actor-turned-producer Anuj Saxena. Confirming this news, COO of his company Pooja Kashyap is quoted as saying, “Kangna is a great actress. She adds a lot of value to a film. What we have paid her is fully justified.”

Dino-Kangana together (RUMOUR)

Dino Morea is certainly living up to his Casanova image. At the second wedding anniversary party of Sanjay Dutt and Manyata on Friday night, Dino had eyes only for Kangna Ranaut.

And watching the PDA in action, it didn’t seem like the single again Kangna was minding the attention one bit.

While the party, held at Sanjay’s and Manyata’s residence, was off limits to the press, a source at the party reveals, “It was a well attended affair and several couples like Shilpa and Raj Kundra, Sunil and Mana Shetty, Fardeen and Natasha Khan, David Dhawan and wife Lalli, besides some others like Kirron Kher and Amar Singh were present. Dino, who made an appearance sans his steadiest girlfriend Nandita Mahatani, had lots to talk about with Kangna Ranaut. Before long, they were chatting away so intimately that it was difficult to believe that this was their first proper meeting at a private party.”

The source continues, “During the course of the evening, Kangna was seen mostly around Dino and they were overheard discussing movies, especially their common interest in Hollywood films. Dino flattered her with many compliments about her best roles. Interestingly, when they both decided to leave at the same time, they hugged each other rather warmly and the peck on the cheek was as hot as it gets. In the lobby, as they waited for their cars, a happy Dino couldn’t resist hopping on a kiddie car lying there, which made Kangna burst into delighted laughter.”

But though Dino succeeded in tickling Kangna’s funny bone, they left soon after in their respective cars. If the sparks between them on Friday night are any indication, there might be more to come.

• During the course of the evening, Kangna was seen mostly around Dino...

Kangana's new home

Looks like it's the season to either book, buy or move into new residences. Evidently something is right somewhere with the finances in the film industry.

We have a story about Vidya Balan buying a four-bedroom apartment at Khar (see below) and now comes the news that Kangna Ranaut has just purchased her dream home in an under-construction building at Bandra.

The house has everything that Kangna needs. It is a triplex penthouse with a living room, guest bedroom, kitchen and terrace on the first level, three bedrooms on the second and the master bedroom, a swimming pool and gym on the third. Additionally her home will have a private lift so that her friends can party or visit without disturbing the rest of the household.

Kangna has been looking for a bigger house so that she could have her parents stay with her. They have a huge house in Manali and Kangna was keen to be able to house them in a spacious apartment in Mumbai.

She has also purchased three parking spaces to go with the apartment, and though she declines to go into details of her new home which is still in the nascent stage, she is obviously thrilled to be able to provide the best for her parents.

Kangana Ranaut won't do film with Aditya Panscholi

Actress upset about reports of her acting opposite Aditya Panscholi.

Kangna Ranaut is upset with news reports that she has signed up to play ex-lover Aditya Panscholi's girl in Dum Maro Dum. Aditya reportedly plays a gangster in the Rohan Sippy-directed film that also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Nagarjuna's nephew Rana Daggubati. The hunt had been on for a female second lead who will be paired opposite Raju and will also be the moll of Aditya's gangster. Reports had stated that Kangna had been signed up for the role. However, Kangna's spokesperson denied the reports stating clearly, "Kangna Ranaut has not signed any film with Aditya Panscholi and does not intend to do so."

Dum Maro Dum is based on the drug racket in Goa.

Kites Official Trailer

British accent for Kangna Ranaut

The game of musical chairs in Abhinay Deo’s tentatively titled film Crooked has finally ended. After Aishwarya Rai Bachchan backed out and Soniya Jehan was hurriedly brought in, Kangna Ranaut will now play the UK-based undercover cop in the film. But with just a week to go before filming starts, Kangna is left with little time to pick up a British accent and also learn swift kicks and moves, which her character - an athletic cop - is required to execute on screen.

It’s probably the biggest challenge of her career, and Kangna is getting no help at all from her director. She apparently tried to get in touch with Abhinay Deo, but since he’s shooting nights for the film, he sleeps through the day.

The actor is now at a loss to prepare for the role which has no reference point in Hindi cinema, which probably also explains why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was doing the part before Kangna.

But Kangna insists she was the original choice. “To my surprise, Ritesh Siddhwani came back to me with the role. This time I had to accommodate it into my schedule at very short notice,” she says. “But I can’t talk about my role at all. All I can say is it is something I’ve never played before. Very intense, agile, and yes, free of glamorous trappings.”

While getting the body language would be relatively easier, acquiring the British accent needed for her part as a British-Asian character may prove tough for Kangna, who is known as much for her rustic Himachali accent as her powerhouse talent.

Kangna Ranaut's sister gets justice

The court’s verdict has resulted in a five-year sentence for the two men behind the crime. The Chief Judicial Magistrate sentenced held Avinash and his friend Prem Singh guilty of throwing acid on Rangoli, yesterday.

The case had been running for over four years now. The actress, who had been very vocal about the attack on her sister in 2006, is happy to see justice served. “While we cannot get back the years my sister lost, I am happy to see that the people behind this have been punished,” said Kangana.

In October 2006 , Rangoli’s ex-lover Avinash had asked Singh to throw acid on her for ending their relationship. It is believed that Singh entered into the Ranaut home proclaiming that he was there to deliver a courier and then threw acid on her when she arrived to the door. The damage caused was quite extensive, with serious burn injuries on Rangoli’s face and other parts of the body.

Soon after the incident, Kangana, who was then filming for Shakalaka Boom Boom, made arrangements for her sister to be flown to Mumbai and looked at by the best doctors in the field. Over the past few years, it is believed that Rangoli has undergone several cosmetic surgeries to help restore her facial structure.

Kangna Ranaut entered Crooked

You heard, didn’t you, that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was originally supposed to act in this film opposite husband Abhishek, but opted out followed by Gul Panag? Truth is, the Bachchan bahu was never approached and Gul was only tested for the role. If offered, would Ash have accepted the offer? Don’t know! But we’re glad she wasn’t asked, because honestly, audiences are fatigued by the Abhiash jodi already. And look who’s been taken on in Crooked instead, former Miss India Sarah Jane Dias! That’s not all, Kangna Ranaut, who has just won her first National Award, too has entered the film.

She takes Pakistani actress Soniya Jahan’s role since Soniya didn’t have the required work permit. Kangna was the original choice but didn’t have dates last year. But now that she’s free and Soniya is out, Kangna’s signed the film in which she gets to play a very meaty role.

And if rumours are to be believed, the crazy signing spree of beauties has not ended yet. Good for Jimmy Shergill, Boman Irani and, of course, Abhishek Bachchan.

Kangna impersonated on socail networking site

Celebrities being impersonated on the internet may be common enough, but it isn’t just overeager fans who get conned by such imposters. Kangna Ranaut has just discovered that she was being impersonated on a social networking site but what’s causing even greater heartburn is the fact that her Fashion costar Priyanka Chopra has actually been interacting with whoever that person is.

A source says, “Kangna is not registered on any social networking site but there are several impersonators out there. Kangna had barely recovered from that disturbing fact when she learnt that Priyanka had been interacting and following one such impersonator.”

Naturally, Kangna is concerned and wants to warn Priyanka, who is shooting in New York for Anjaana Anjaani, about the whole mix up. “I have not called Priyanka yet, but I will inform her,” Kangna told Mumbai Mirror. “Even Madhur Bhandarkar called me up to say that he is following me on a social networking site. I’m shocked. There are fake accounts in my name on these sites and not just fans, even my friends are following them.”

Kangna's deep search

Kangna Ranaut doesn’t have the measurements to make you sit up and take notice of her.

But if she were to make a clean breast of things, she would still have a lot to say. The 22-year-old from Manali made several mistakes (personal and professional) in her first year in Bollywood. But she’s used those very same mistakes as stepping stones on her journey to stardom.

With multiple releases lined up in 2010 including Kites, Once Upon A Time in Mumbai, Tanu Weds Manu, Knockout, No Problem and The Actor, life is throwing a rainbow of roles for her.

She recently bagged the National Award as Best Supporting Actress for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. Elated with her new honour, Kangna says, “I didn’t know how significant the National Award was till I got deluged with messages from within and outside the film industry.’’ Confessing that she is super-ambitious, she adds, “Till mid-2008, it seemed like nothing was moving in my life. I got good films from Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt. But things were still moving slow. Then all of a sudden I found my career gathering steam. After Gangster and Woh Lamhe, the accolades poured in for Fashion. Makers like Rakesh Roshan, Anees Bazmee and Mani Shankar Aiyar signed me for their projects. And, clichéd as it may seem, there has been no looking back.’’

Showbiz apart, Kangna is one of those introspective girls who are constantly looking for the true meaning of life. “Okay, the movies are my focal point. But, then I’m also looking for something beyond movies. I know I want to direct one some day. I have bought myself a fancy new car. I’m buying a home in Manali. Fame and fortune apart, I’m also searching for something deep within. I keep telling myself that if life is over at 50, I should have accomplished something substantial before that.’’
Drawing a deep breath, the curly-haired temptress adds, “There is a random energy that I draw strength from. And somehow I know, I’m not going to be satisfied with routine stuff. My life is special... and I’m going to treat it that way.’’ Men, she says, can wait...

Kangana's appreciation to everyone

Kangana posted on her blog a very emotional appreciation to all her fans and supporters. Here is it:

Thank you so much for all your messages on my winning the National Award for my work in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Fashion’. It is such an honour and it is a memory I will cherish forever.

Fashion was a great film. Madhur Sir, is by far, one of the most talented Directors in our industry and deserves all credit for this win. When he called me yesterday with news that I’d won this award, I was surprised and delighted. He told me to turn on the TV. It was only when I saw the tickers on TV channels announcing Priyanka’s win, and my win, that I really believed it!

You never go into a film thinking of the awards it will win. The focus is always on making a good film that audiences will enjoy. But as an actor, I do put my heart and soul into the roles I essay. So when you receive an award, a complement or fan mail that tells you someone appreciated your work it is always special. Its only been three years for me in the indutry and I’ve been lucky to win something each year. But because the National Awards are one of a kind - they are the oldest, given by the President of the Country, and they are about your country conferring an honour on you -this moment becomes really extra, extra special!

It’s been an emotional time for my entire family. My father had tears in his eyes when he heard the news. He was saying “You’re just 22, this is really incredible, to have achieved so much so soon!” My family and friends all have big smiles on their faces. My house is filled with beautiful flowers and chocolates, and my mail box and phone with sweet messages that have been sent by people from the industry, friends and well wishers. Celebration is in the air for sure!

I’m looking forward to going to Delhi to be with the team of Fashion and celebrate this. Madhur Sir, Priyanka, Mugdha, Arjan, Arbaaz and I all had a wonderful time making this film. It would not have been the same without any one of them. I look forward to working with everyone again.

It is your support that keeps me going most of all. Thanks for your great letters, messages and words of encouragement. I love you.

Kangna's emotional win

Kangna Ranaut's parents burst into tears when they heard their daughter had won the National award for best supporting actress in Fashion at the 56th National Awards announced on Saturday.

Said Kangna on Saturday, "There's a mini-celebration in my house, though my parents were crying when they heard about it. At 23, I seem to have cracked the highest cultural award for the country. What more can I do? I should just pack up and go back to my home in Himachal now with my parents."

Kangna was also very happy for her co-star Priyanka Chopra who is the USA. "I messaged her to say how happy I was for both of us."

Kangna Ranaut at National Award announcement

Kangna Ranaut has excelled in essaying the woman who is on the brink of losing her sanity. From hyper to schizophrenic to a druggie supermodel who shoves “attitude,” turns irresponsible, gives hell and loses her status in ‘Fashion’. And this time, she’s turned successful at a national level! Ranaut got the National award for ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ for her portrayal in ‘Fashion.’

“She’s brilliant my film and she’s matched up to Priyanka very well,” Madhur Bhandarkar said.

2010 expressly marks a special year for Kangna, as she gears up to tackle two comedies ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘No Problem’ and a thriller ‘Knockout.’. Besides, she essays a salsa dancer in ‘Kites’ and grabs a slice of history with a period film, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai.’

22 gifts for Kangna

Kangna Ranaut is understandably ecstatic. After winning the National Award for Best Supporting Actress in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion, she has reason to party as hard as she works.

She was delightfully surprised when yesterday evening at around 4 pm, Sameer, a Delhi-based fan, sent a huge gift hamper to Kangna’s place. Inside were three boxes – one with 22 wine bottles, another with 22 cakes of different shapes and sizes and the third loaded with 22 accessories including earrings, bracelets, and bangles. There was also a sweet note from the fan accompanying the parcel saying, “22 because you are a 22-year-old and a National Award is no mean achievement at such a young age.” Atta girl, Kangs.

Kangna Ranaut celebrates with ice cream

For once Kangna Ranaut didn’t worry about piling on those much-dreaded calories as she gorged on some yummy ice cream. Well, winning the National Award for the Best Supporting Actress, definitely, gave her a reason to indulge in it. Kangna decided to treat herself to an ice cream.

We spotted her heading to an ice cream parlour once the news of her winning the National Award was confirmed. The actress, dressed in a white-stripped shirt and skinny jeans, wasted no time in choosing her favourite flavour.

She posed for the camera too. Both Priyanka Chopra and Kangna won an award for their performance in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. Seems like the year has begun on a good note for the actress.

Kangna will now be looking forward to scoring some brownie points at the box office with her next release Kites that will see her not just displaying her acting prowess, but giver her a chance to display her dancing skills too.

However, right now the actress is busy answering all the congratulatory messages that she has been flooded with. While Arjun Rampal who won the Best Supporting Actor Award chose to throw a party to celebrate, Kangna kept her celebrations low key. So, is a party in the offing? Well, we are sure your friends would want to celebrate your big moment. So what’s the plan, Kangs?

Kangna Ranaut at launch of Louis Vuitton's fashion

What do you get when you combine a bevy of sizzling hot B-town beauties and one of the hautest couturier in the fashion world? A super stylish party that tops the fashion scales. That was exactly the scene as Louis Vuitton unveiled its latest store at a top end hotel in Bandra. The flavour of the evening was Freida Pinto who was greeted warmly by Yves Carcelle, the brand’s chairman and CEO. Looking pretty in a knee length salmon dress from LV’s special customised archive collection, she willingly posed for photographs.

Walking in bright and early in the evening were Kangna Ranaut and Sameera Reddy. Kangna’s got her style fundas right on target as she flaunted her toned shoulders and legs and of course, the season’s hottest hair trend — the fringe. Also sporting a fringe was Genelia. Then there was Shilpa Shetty-Kundra looking radiant in a fuschia one sleeved number. The actress is slowly making a presence felt on the party circuit post her extended honeymoon. She walked in with sister Shamita Shetty. Malaika Arora Khan walked in and immediately upped the oomph factor of the party with her ‘little’ black dress. Black was the colour of choice for Lara Dutta, Dia Mirza, Preity Zinta, Deepika Padukone, Mehr Rampal and Neelam Kothari while it was blood red for Raveen Tandon.

Dino Morea chatted with friends while Abhay Deol spent a better part of the evening by himself. Arjun Rampal caught up with Sanjay Kapoor. Representing the model brigade were Diandra Soares, Nina Manuel, Nethra Raghuraman, Carol Gracias, Binal Trivedi and Bhavna Sharma. Also present were Atul Kasbekar, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey and Narendra Kumar among others.

Kangana Ranaut at the Ekta Kapoor's bash for Sendhil Ramamurthy

It was a cosy yet classy affair with scintillating music, sumptuous food and great conversations. Tusshar and Ekta Kapoor organised a bash to welcome Hollywood-based Indian actor Sendhil Ramamurthy who’s in town. (Psst: he’s making his Bollywood debut in their film).

Not surprising that conversations ranged from Hollywood to crossover films to song and dance in Bollywood movies. There were B-town folks, a sprinkling of telefolks and then some more — Neelam, Abhishek Kapoor, Ramesh Taurani, Arti and Kailash Surendranath, Sameer Arya and Shrishti Behl, Ken Ghosh, Shveta Salve, Anita, Rohit Roy, Chetan Hansraj, Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, Meghna Naidu, Rodney Barnes, Pooja Bedi... Nandita Mahtani dropped in for a while too (no, Dino wasn’t there!).

Upping the style quotient here were Kangna Ranaut and Celina Jaitly, the latter wearing black stockings to beat the nip in the air. A clean-shaven, suited-booted Kaizad Gustad was a complete contrast to the heavily bearded Abhay Deol. The party, as expected, rocked on late into the night!

Pics from Verve Magazine

Adhyayan Suman doesn't blame anything on Kangna Ranaut

Adhyayan Suman who last year remained in the news for his tumultuous association with Kangna Ranaut is now looking to rebuild his career after the storm.

Adhyayan minces no words while saying he regretted the stormy affair with Kangna. "I was too young, too immature and gullible. My parents and my friends warned me I was losing out on my career because of my relationship. Like any young besotted guy, I couldn't see reason. I thought anyone who advised me against the relationship was my enemy. I was blinded by my passion. I don't blame Kangna for anything. It was a great learning experience for me. And I'm glad I went through it at the start of my career instead of later when I'd have much more to lose."
The young actor is now trying to rebuild his career. "I got a great break in Raaz 2. Then decent reviews for Jashnn. The Bhatts gave me a great break. But unfortunately the marketing was not done properly."

Adhyayan admits he had to spend Rs. 30 lakhs from the family's pocket for the marketing and promotion of Jashnn. "But I'll always be grateful to the Bhatts. I don't regret the Kangna episode either. I see them as important links in my growth as a human being and actor. I'm ready to start again."

Adhyayan is now playing the lead in Rani Mukherjee's brother Raja Mukherjee's film and also Telugu hotshot Sekhar Suri's film about how stars are exploited by politicians during election campaigns.
"It starts off as a story of a star who campaigns for a politician. Then when he realizes that he's being used by wrong elements, the star stands for elections himself. I quite identify with the character's growth from smugness to self-consciousness. I know I've been blind and I seemed arrogant in my attitude. All that has changed now," says Adhyayan.

Sources like India Info and India Blooms report that Shahrukh Khan was one of the celebrity guests at the birthday party thrown by Hrithik and his wife Suzanne. So what did SRK feel like at the party?

Well…SRK tweeted in his account, “Been to Duggu (nickname of Hrithik) Hrithik’s house, his birthday, we Karan, Riteish, Abhishek, Ash, Saif, Kareena, Preity, Dino, Kunal, Farah Ali had a good bash.”

Ohhh, does that mean the mentioned celebrities were also there? Yes guys, SRK was enjoying with all these big names!

"Kites" postponed again!

I am tired of Kites being postponed, but it has again. The movie will release a week later on May 21st and I am tired of waiting. Kangna Ranaut's fans need to see this film. I want to see this so bad. Hopefully, they will prepone the film

Kangna's dress is the best in Dulha Mil Gaya premiere

Kangna Ranaut made a mark Bollywood by daring to take on offbeat roles. And now seems to be taking the philosophy to the red carpet.

At the premier of Dulha Mil Gaya, actress stood out in a short olive green off-shoulder dress with a peacock pattern fringe. The dress made maximum impact because the rest of the red carpet brigade went for staid, if safe, black.

While Sushmita Sen wore a floor sweeping black gown - a style seen a zillion times Hollywood and Bollywood red carpets Celina Jaitley tried in vain, to pep her black dress with zebra pattern pumps. Sophie Choudhary chose the predictable winter look complete with stockings.

But it was Kangna who made heads turn with an experimental and yet sassy look. The dress, by new designer Rajat Tangri - who owns a fashion store, Noir Designs, in Australia and is now based in Mumbai - was a red carpet winner. It was paired with a Bottega Venetta clutch.

According to Kangna, one doesn't always have to have a luxury label to get a style nod. She said: "I've every big designer from Galliano to Alexander McQueen in my wardrobe. But since I come from a middle-class background, I consciously wear labels that any girl can think of emulating. I often wear high-street brands for events. For Pa premier, I wore an Armani shirt with Zara pants and matched it with shoes from Aldo." The star has been seen playing around with fashion recently. For Apsara Awards, she wore a hot pink frilly short dress with an interesting waist band by high street label Bebe.

For IIFA awards, Kangna wore a splendid goddess gown by designer Rick Roy.

A source close to Kangna said: "She is crazy about fashion and is particularly inspired by Victoria Beckham and Rihanna's edgy dressing. She also pays great attention to make-up and admires Kate Moss's near natural look.

"While Kangna's trendy side is getting thumbs up from fashion watchers, she took some time learning the nuances of the glam world. When she was new in the industry, she had no idea about putting together a look." You've come a long way girl.

Kangana Ranaut at the Dulha Mil Gaya premiere

Morpheus Media Ventures Pvt Ltd and Insight Productions played hosts to a theatrefull of guests at the premiere of their film Dulha Mil Gaya.
Eminent faces from Bollywood — actors, directors, musicians — were present to congratulate the team. The main leads of the film — Sushmita Sen, Fardeen Khan and Ishitta Sharrma — along with Tara Sharma, Mohit Chadda, Suchitra Pillai and Howard Rosemeyer were all there, basking in the limelight. SRK was sorely missed though. Producer Viveck Vaswani and director Mudassar Aziz couldn’t have asked for a better turnout at their premiere!

The place was abuzz with excitement as Sush shimmered down the red carpet looking gorgeous in a black gown. A suave looking Fardeen was accompanied by his wife Natasha, sister Laila Khan and extended family — Zayed and Malaika Khan, Farah Khan Ali and Sanjay and Zarine Khan. The crowd got even more excited to see Govinda, who greeted Sushmita with a tight hug. Kangna Ranaut looked hot in an olive green short dress; the extra kilos suit her! Vidya Balan and Celina Jaitly made just brief appearances because of prior work commitments. Riteish Deshmukh came with Farah and Sajid Khan; all three were maha-excited to see the film. Chunky and Bhavna Pandey, directors Rohit Shetty and Anees Bazmee, Nigar Khan, Parikshit Sahani and Geeta Basra were also present.

Neetu has no problem with Kangna

This time the same thing happened on the sets of No Problem, where almost 3 actresses are working together. Sushmita Sen, Kangna Ranaut and Neetu Chandra. But the fight this time is between Neetu and Kangna.

Sources from the sets informed that, “A few days ago, Kangana called Neetu to her vanity van and shouted at her for using her name to gain publicity. Neetu was stunned at her reaction.”

But later, Neetu realized that what had actually happened was due to her very close friend, who was present on the sets. “Some journalist asked her friend about the kind of rapport Neetu shared with everyone on the sets of No Problem, but the scribe went about and made a snippet about Neetu’s dosti with Kangna,” said the source, and Neetu was blamed to leak all inside stories.

When we contacted Neetu, she said, “I have no idea about it. We had a great time while shooting, and Kangna is very sweet.” Kangna was unavailable for comment.

So we contacted the director of the film, Aneez Bazmee, to confirm the story. He said, "I have no idea if something like this had happened, I think it is all a rumour because we had a great time shooting for No Problem, and every actor, actress and crew member, all of them, became very close friends. It was like some picnic. And I don’t think any cat fight happened between Neetu and Kangna because both the ladies are very sweet.”

Seems that Kangna feels that she is a top actress, though in No Problem, she is the leading lady opposite an average actor Akshaye Khanna. And on the other hand, Neetu Chandra has still not made it big in Bollywood.

In the film No Problem, Sushmita Sen is playing Kangna Ranaut’s sister. And both are impressed by each other. So where does this leave Neetu?

Kangana Ranaut on Daboo Ratnani's 2010 calendar

Kangna's Verve Magazine scans

Kangana Ranaut has by now become used to getting quizzical stares from people who fail to recognize her. The uncanny thing about her facial features is that they change so often that the actress virtually becomes unrecognizable.

Well, Kangs again looks ‘different’ on the cover and the inside spreads of the latest edition of Verve.

In the interview, Kangana says: “Mumbai is so fast, you don't even get time to sit and think whether whatever you are running after is actually what you want... Is it making you happy? You're in a whirlpool that keeps sucking you in. When you come out of it, you go, 'Oh my God, 'How much I've changed!'”

Kangna ticks off Neetu

Kangna Ranaut, who has moved into the big circles (yeah she’s an in-demand actress now!) is okay with reports saying that she is friends with her No Problem co-star Sushmita Sen or perhaps even with her Fashion co-star Priyanka Chopra.

However, Kangna didn’t like the other girl in No Problem — Neetu Chandra — claiming that the two are friends. Apparently the no-nonsense Kangna, known for her frankspeak, called Neetu to her van on the sets of the Anees Bazmee’s film and reportedly admonished her for claiming that she was her friend.

Kangna searching for a house

If all goes well, Kangna Ranaut will shift from Latasoni building at Pali Naka, Bandra in 2010.Kangna is hunting for a new house, which would be bigger than her current one. Sources reveal that for the last few days, the actress has been searching for a flat between Bandra-Juhu. She would prefer a big duplex.

Explaining why Kangna wants to shift from her Pali Naka flat, our source says, “Kangna’s parents, who presently reside in Manali, will shift with her once she gets her new house. However, her father may then shuttle for his business commitments.” Kangna’s brother Rishu who is studying engineering in Delhi now, may also move in with her. Another reason why Kangna wants to shift is that she wants more privacy. “She would prefer her new property to be in a quieter locality than her current one,” adds our source. She currently lives in a three-bedroom apartment.

We checked with Kangna but she was rather hesitant to talk about her plans. However, she said, “It’s too early to talk about it. But yes, once I get my new house, my parents would definitely come and stay with me.”

Ever since she came to Mumbai, Kangna has spent most of her time staying without her family. Of late though, her elder sister Rangoli has been staying with her.

Kites in May 14

It's finally confirmed! The past few months have witnessed tremendous speculation about the release date of KITES. Initially, it was said that KITES would arrive in Diwali. Later, it was January, coinciding with the release of Hrithik Roshan's debut movie KAHO NAA… PYAAR HAI. Much later, news poured in that KITES would open during the onset of summer vacations, in April.

But the release date has been sealed finally. The film will be released worldwide on May 14. Interestingly, two more biggies are slated for release in May - HOUSEFULL on 20th [Thursday] and RAAJNEETI on 28th.

Kangana's resolution for 2010

Janaury is finally here. I am so happy that it is a new year and I look forward to blog all about Kangana's updates and movies here on this blog. 2009 was a big year for Kangna and 2010 will be even bigger. Kangana posted this on her blog about 2010:

Kaise hain aap? When the clock strikes twelve on December 31st, people all over the world cheer and wish each other a very Happy New Year. For some, this day is no different from any other. For others, it symbolizes a whole new beginning, while taking stock of the year that passed.

Stepping into 2010, I’m doing a little bit of that myself!

Films:
With filming for so many projects on at present, I am most of all looking forward to all my releases next year — from Kites, No Problem, Tanu Weds Manu, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and Knockout. Each film is unique and I’m excited by the stories, the looks and the characters I essay. Thank you for your sweet support during Fashion and Raaz - The Mystery Continues. I hope you enjoy these films as much.

Fitness:
I’ve had a regular yoga practice for four years now, and it’s been the cornerstone of my fitness programmes. I plan to continue this, and also get more regular with my dance classes. In keeping with this, I also want to focus on eating healthier and avoiding junk food. This can be hard sometimes, because I’m a real foodie!

Fun:
While outdoor shoots take you to different countries, there’s a completely different quality about a full fledged holiday, with no responsibilities whatsoever. I had a lovely time in Italy this year and with family in Manali. I hope I get to travel and explore lots more this year.

Future:
And last of all, I want to buy my dream home in Manali. I love the mountains, the simplicity and purity of life. Having a home in Manali has been something I’ve wanted all along, and it’s sweet to know that this might happen in this coming year.

Whatever your resolutions for the year or perhaps you have decided to make none…I wish that this journey around the Sun be one that is filled with happiness for you. Dream! Discover!! Explore!!! Happy 2010!

Love always,
Kangna Ranaut
